It's a good thing I'm not doing NaNoBloMo...

Hope I spelled that right? *shrug* Yeah, because I've been lazily neglecting this blog. In my defense, I'm a thousand words behind. Ok, ok, fine. Like 2,000 behind. Plus whatever today's is. I'm at 9,750 words. *headdesk* Ah, someone'll be up until midnight tonight.

I'll be putting in some long hours to make it up, but I swore I'd finish NaNoWriMo and I will. Procrastination? Slight writer's block? No problem.

Short post again, but I must say, although I am behind, I'm farther than I ever was before. This is so far the longest piece of fiction I have focused on for so long, I believe.

Quick question... are your characters talking to you? And do you find yourself talking to yourself yet? Not that I do it. *looks away quickly* Just wondering. =)

Second day. I'm up at 4,462 words. I only needed 3,334. I just wrote 1061 words in thirty minutes for a word war. My novel's really doing well. Anyone else doing especially well, or are you banging your head against a wall? Here's an amazing tool if you didn't already know:

It's a word count thing that especially helps with word wars. I encourage word wars and dares. It's working for me!

FOUR DAYS TILL NANOWRIMO!

Kill me now. My plot's unraveling on it's own, suddenly my character wants to have a crush on a certain other character, and I have a gazillion minor characters floating around. It's gonna take more than candy to fix this. And my characters want to start clicheing my fantasy. *headdesk*

Er. There was a point to this rant. It got lost though.

Onwards! What's helped you win NaNo in the past? So far I've got a word-count calendar as my desktop, bribes piled up, and I plan to crank out 3,000 words on Day 1 as a reassurance.

What works? Calendars, bribes, days off, splitting first day word-counts, dares, word wars or other? And what word count goals are you setting? I forgot to ask earlier. 50K is mine. I've heard of 400k winners though... whoa.

4 days... *falls over*

Hey, long time no post. Eh, not really. But I'm awfully sorry I didn't post. Ok, for today, the topic is romance and characters.

Oh, and here's a banner I made for my novel if you want to see.

Like it? It was fun to do. Anyway, enough about me. What kind of romance goes into your novel? Do you only do straight romance or add in other types? Not necessarily physical relationships, emotional too. Just to get that straight.
And is your MC a male or female? Do they have a love interest or crush? Do your characters tend towards "bad" girls or not?
Just some stuff to consider. I'll be posting a new poll soon. And new layout. Again! That other one was to hard to edit. Countdown to NaNoWriMo, 12 days. 11 days and a few hours if you start at midnight! I'm going to. =)

I'll update more later. I might even post a little character sketch I did. Maybe. If I think it looks okay, that is.

Helpful Hints...

Here are some helpful hints I'd like to share. For me, writing in general has to have music, usually using my I-pod, and it has to be done in otherwise complete silence. I write best sitting in a chair and typing at a desk. Lying or sprawling on the floor hurts my arms, and it's too easy to drift off to sleep. Or day-dreaming.

Welcome to my NaNoWriMo

Hello, welcome to my NaNoWriMo novel blog! I am doing one of my first "regular" blogs this year. It's not a personal blog, because I'm just paranoid like that. =) It's just a blog to track my NaNoWriMo progress, to talk about it with other NaNoWriMonians and just for a procrastination method. Actually, I'm thinking about blocking my internet during my writing hours.

So hey. I'm Tawnydust, a fantasy writer. Thirteen years old. But that's all you're getting, besides the fact I'm a girl. This year is basically my first year doing NaNoWriMo. I started 2 years, but it doesn't really count for one year, as I basically just signed up. Here's to a month of success! I'm only going for 50K, I'm not ambitious. No 100K novels for me this year! =P

Here's what else I'll be including. Links I find that I think are helpful for NaNoWrimo, or writing in general, maybe, if you're lucky, a few snippets of my novel. I won't be posting more than the first chapter and a synopsis, at most. This is due to copyright issues, and I also might publish the novel. So you have to wait for it in print.

I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct format for a blog. Or if it's even long enough. Let me know if you have suggestions. I'm looking forward to hearing from fellow NaNoWriMoians, so feel free to comment.
